India intends to significantly reduce tariffs on imported photovoltaic modules
India is considering halving import duties on solar panels and seeking to reduce goods and services taxes on the equipment to make up for shortfalls in local production amid growing demand for renewable energy, three government sources said. India's Ministry of Renewable Energy has held talks with the Finance Ministry to approve its request to reduce import duties on solar panels from 40% to 20%.
