According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the U.S. grid added 16.8 GW of utility-scale generation capacity in the first half of 2023, and developers plan to add another 35.2 GW in the second half of this year. Solar PV accounts for the largest share of new power generation capacity, accounting for 35% (5.9 GW) of capacity coming online in the first half of 2023.
